MC-A200 Industrial Controller
Entry-level rugged control — CODESYS multicore PLC tasks and pre-integrated VersaCore Historian at a strong price-to-performance ratio.
Overview
The MC-A200 is HSI’s entry-level Modern Controller — built for plant and process applications that need reliable control and high-fidelity data without a preemptive real-time platform. It runs a full CODESYS PLC runtime that takes advantage of multicore PLC tasks for efficient, concurrent control logic — including task cycles that are easily run at 1 ms. Paired with Beckhoff I/O over EtherCAT, field I/O runs in lock step with the PLC application. Pre-integrated VersaCore decentralized historian means you avoid a separate PLC + gateway + historian stack.
Choose the MC-A200 when you want a compact, cost-effective controller for general industrial automation, remote sites, and package equipment. Need real-time performance for gas turbine control? See the MC-i400 with its preemptive kernel.
Key Benefits
Entry-level value
Right-sized for general automation and package control — strong price-to-performance without overbuying real-time hardware.
CODESYS multicore · 1 ms tasks
IEC 61131-3 runtime with multicore PLC tasks — concurrent workloads and task cycles easily run at 1 ms for high price-to-performance control.
EtherCAT lock-step I/O
Combine with Beckhoff I/O over EtherCAT and the fieldbus runs in lock step with the PLC application — deterministic I/O scan aligned to the control task.
Instant edge data logging
Pre-integrated VersaCore Historian — start capturing process data from day one without a separate historian project.
All-in-one edge package
PLC logic, historian, and flexible connectivity in a single compact rugged unit on OnLogic FR201 hardware.
Broad fieldbus support
EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, CANopen, and more via CODESYS — plus GEEGD for GE/Emerson PLCs.
Local HMI ready
Connect a monitor via HDMI to view process data and historian trends on-site without a separate PC.

MC-A200 vs MC-i400
Both platforms use CODESYS multicore PLC tasks (including cycles easily run at 1 ms) for high price-to-performance ratios, and both support Beckhoff I/O over EtherCAT running in lock step with the PLC application. The difference is class of real-time control:
- MC-A200 — entry-level platform for general industrial automation and package control
- MC-i400 — preemptive kernel for real-time PLC performance, including gas turbine control
